🔥🚫 What Not to Burn in Your Cotswold Eco Tub.

Your Cotswold Eco Tub is designed for simplicity, sustainability, and pure relaxation. It’s powered by a wood-fired stove that works best (and lasts longest) when treated with care—especially when it comes to what you burn.

Using the wrong fuel doesn’t just affect performance; it can damage your stove, reduce efficiency, and even release harmful pollutants into the air. To keep your hot tub safe and enjoyable for years to come, here’s what to avoid:

❌ Coal

Why avoid it?Coal burns much hotter than wood and can easily overheat the stove, risking warping or damaging internal parts. It also produces sulphur emissions—not ideal when you’re enjoying fresh air and clear skies.

❌ Wet or Unseasoned Wood

Why avoid it?Moist wood doesn’t burn efficiently. It produces excessive smoke, creates creosote buildup in the flue, and delivers less heat. This makes the stove work harder for poorer results and increases the need for cleaning.

👉 Use instead: Well-seasoned hardwoods like ash, oak, or beech with a moisture content below 20%.

❌ Old Pallets

Why avoid it?Pallets may seem like a handy fuel source, but many are chemically treated or painted. Burning them can release toxic fumes, and any metal components (like nails or staples) can damage the stove.

❌ Coffee Logs

Why avoid it?Although marketed as eco-friendly, coffee logs burn at a very high temperature—too high for most wood-fired hot tubs. This can lead to overheating, excess ash, and long-term damage to your stove.

❌ Plastic

Why avoid it?Never burn plastic. It releases toxic chemicals when incinerated, creates unpleasant odors, and leaves harmful residue inside the stove and flue. It’s unsafe for you, your tub, and the environment.

✅ Keep It Clean and Simple

To get the best performance from your Cotswold Eco Tub, stick to clean, dry hardwood logs. Not only do they burn efficiently, but they also protect your stove and keep your soak safe and enjoyable.
